Still life in blue - limited edition art print on giclee

£95.00

A3 limited edition of 20 - a black and white (and blue!) image created using a home made pinhole camera. This particular image was made with a camera I made from a biscuit tin! The image was exposed for around 15 minutes, which was still not long enough! One of the exciting things about this form of alternative photography is that I have absolutely no idea what I’m going to get until I put the paper in the develop, stop and fix in the dark room.

This one was a pleasant surprise - the image being underexposed meant it needed longer in the developer bath, way longer than usual, which turned the whites in the paper pink. The bath time also recorded my own thumb print and movements of my fingertips as I impatiently moved the print around in the developer bath, urging the image to come into being.

When the print was later digitally inverted from a negative to a positive, the pink became blue… I adore the effect, and doubt I could ever have purposefully created it with intention. Such is the magic of working in an experimental way!

This image will be printed on high quality giclee art paper at A3, unframed with a small white border around the image.

Having spent 20 years in professional photography, those heady days of the pandemic brought a new experimental perspective to my way of working with photography. I love the serendipity in the guesswork when it comes to timing these pinhole images. The roses, cut from my own garden, seem a little shy in this image!
