Clean water - limited edition art print from cyanotype original on giclee
A3 limited edition of 20 - giclee art print from a cyanotype original
I took a brief journey into cyanotypes while working on alternative photography practices. For this image, watercolour paper was painted with light- sensitive cyanotype chemicals. I wanted to make a piece that was celebrating water and the nourishment it provides. It ended up being quite a turning point in my creative practice.
I cut the shapes of the carafe, bottle and glass from standard A4 paper, laid them on the coated paper, and on top of that, a transparent print from a photograph of swimming pool water. Laying a sheet of glass on top to prevent them all blowing away, I took it outside, using nothing but Norfolk sunshine to develop the image the objects’ shadows created. The exposure time was around 18 minutes.
This image will be printed on high quality giclee art paper at A3, unframed with a small white border around the image.
